CMMC: August Color Red

Red is the August color for Cee’s Midweek Madness Challenge. I browsed my digital files and found more red in 2021 than I imagined I had!

Flowers first: tulips, a fairy duster (who knew there was such a thing?!!), and a rose.

Next up: a glimpse of my visit to the Iowa Arboretum. The school house is so small there’s just enough room for a student or two with the teacher. The metal sculpture of a cardinal is the best cardinal photo in my collection – maybe someday I’ll get the right equipment to take live bird pictures.

For a little fun, here is a new fire hydrant looking at an older relative to see if it is safe to remove its covering.

And, finally, the side of a red barn.

CMMC June Color – Yellow

“Oh! Hello!” The goldfinch at my home office window was a surprise five years ago. This picture of Iowa’s State Bird was taken through the windowpane glass.

Compared to the goldfinch, the yellow perch on the birdfeeder looks almost orange! It tended to attract house finches.

April visits to Reimann Botanical Gardens yielded more than a few photos of yellow daffodils and yellow tulips. Other yellow flowers were in bloom in early June.

My Aunt Clara has addressed the challenge of growing flowers in the Arizona desert by decorating her fence with a variety of “sunflowers” – found round objects painted yellow.

Shuffle. The picture was taken in response to the Ragtag Daily Prompt last Monday but I didn’t get around to writing a post. Playing pinochle with my parents was more fun than blogging.

Upside Down Umbrella. It’s a picture from a few years ago that I didn’t use for one of Dutch Goes the Photo! Tuesday Photo Challenges. (Frank, if you see this, know that you are missed.)

Tulips. All kinds of colors – a departure from my usual “one flower” approach.

Wandering on the Iowa State University campus while my beloved participated in a study, I was pleasantly surprised to find Beardshear Hall. From the stories he tells, Beadshear was his home away from home back in the day he was working on his Ph.D.

I’m more inclined to take pictures of flowers than I am to photograph gates. But this gate caught my attention on a beautiful spring day at Reiman Gardens.
