This picture of an old church was my first thought when I saw the photo for September’s Pick a Topic for Cee’s Midweek Madness Challenge. Her picture is of a roof with small structures on top that need a coat of paint.

My next thought was to take pictures of bell towers (didn’t happen). Then I thought of roof structures in general, perhaps ones with triangular shapes.

It wasn’t until this morning – five days after the challenge was issued – that I thought of a more general theme of “weathered.”

Since I was walking at Big Creek State Park, I turned my camera to picnic tables and grills.

I absolutely thought the church was wonderful until I saw your picnic table, That is outstanding π

It was the picnic table that made me think of “weathered”!

I love this theme — weathered, not rundown, old, discarded … just weathered. I am going to ask you if I can use two of these for prayers I am scheduled to write October 7 morning and evening, but I cannot decide between the church, birdhouse, and picnic bench. I will e in touch.

“In need of paint” was the the other option that crossed my mind. Definitely not rundown or discarded; and “old” is such a relative term.
All still very doing what they were designed to do (although I wondered if the church was not a family’s home). Just let me know and I’ll be glad to send you the photo!
