Thinking about the photo challenge “Assemble” and with every good intention (and we know about that) to join the challenge, I took pictures while I made Valentine’s Day cookies for my neighbors. It’s past the deadline, but I thought I could still share my pictures of making sour cream sugar cookies!

Wishing I could send you each a plate of cookies!
Love it. Looks yummy.

SOUR CREAM SUGAR (CUT-OUT) COOKIES Teressa Clark
1 ½ cups sugar
½ cup shortening
2 eggs
1 teaspoon lemon OR vanilla OR almond extract
1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 ½ cups flour
Mix together in order giver in large bowl. Dough will be slightly sticky. Roll out on floured surface. Cut out using your favorite cookie cutters! Bake at 350° until edges begin to turn brown (time varies based on size of cookies). Cool and decorate.
Does not have to be refrigerated before cutting! I usually use almond extract in both the cookie dough and the buttercream frosting. – TLC
